Goodwill Tour '10 stops in Chouteau

On January 21, 2010 3:30-4:30 in  the Chouteau High School Plaza Oklahoma State FFA Officers  McKenzieClifton, Tara Burchfield, Robby Branscrum and,Ariel Leflore. Will be making a stop in chouteau to speak to them about achieving your goals.  Each stop is scheduled for 1 hour to 1½ hours in length.  The officers will have a 15-20 minute standard program they will present at each stop on the Tour.  The remainder of the time can be used for question and answer, photograph's. Don’t pass up this opportunity for a face-to-face, close encounter, with the best youth leaders our Association has to offer!!!

82nd National FFA Convention

Chouteau FFA Officer Team at Lucas Oil Stadium home field of the NFL's IndianapolisColts, while at the National FFA Comevetion. During which time the FFA member's from around the United State's came togther for five days of fun and fellowship with other FFA member's during this time Member's had the chance to listen to Convention Keynote Speaker: Mike Rowe, walk the FFA National Agricultural Career Show, attend a concert with Toby Keith, or the 2009 Bulls and Broncs Championship Finale, and even learn a thing or two about leadership in the Student Workshops. Over all 53,473 members in attendance at the 2009 National FFA Convention.

Local Showmanship Clinic     

           The Chouteau community and supporters are invited to the first annual showmanship clinic held by the Chouteau 4-H and FFA on Aug. 8, at the Mayes County Fairgrounds. There will be swine, sheep, goat, beef, dairy, and horse showmanship clinics as well as a show for each class. The showmanship classes will be divided into Junior, Senior, Pee Wee, and Adult. The events will start with the swine clinic at 8 a.m. The swine showmanship clinic and show will be followed by the sheep and goats.
          A break for lunch will be held from noon to 12:30 p.m., followed shortly by the beef, dairy, and horse showmanship clinic and shows. The 4-H will have a concession lunch for sale. Brandon Spears, Jones Academy Instructor, will be giving the swine showmanship clinic. Randy Pirtle, Washington County 4-H Extension Agent, will give the sheep and goat clinics. The beef showmanship clinic will be led by Brian Courtney.
          All participants are highly encouraged to be there for the entire clinic. Official show dress is not required. That night from 6 to 7 p.m., a cookout will sponsored by Chouteau FFA at the Mayes County Fairgrounds. From 8 to 10 p.m., there will be a Booster Club sponsored pool party at the Pryor Pool. 2008-2009 Banquet

          Several members received awards and recognition. Eighth graders Jacob Chupp and John Jones received the Star Discovery Degree for being most active in FFA in their grade. The Star Speaker awards were given to Rebecca Walsh, Outstanding 8th Grade Speaker and Lauren Walsh, Star Greenhand Speaker. Whitney Morgan was the Star Chapter Speaker. Cody Duncan was awarded the Star Chapter Degree. Laura Deason won the Star Chapter Agribusiness award. For her help with the chapter, Martha Armitage was recognized with the Honorary Star Farmer Degree. Josh Steddum received the Swine Proficiency Award and Kristen Mattingly won the Sheep Proficiency Award. Other proficiency award winners included Tyler Chupp, Dair and Ag Sales; Laura Deason, Ag Services; Wesley Dorsey, Beef; and Turner Armitage, Equine.
          This year’s outstanding judges were recognized as well. In livestock judging, Clint Jones was named Outstanding Judge. Morgan Henry was named Outstanding Horse Judge. Tyler Chupp won Outstanding Dairy Judge and Kristen Mattingly was named Outstanding Dairy Products Judge. Eleven members ran for chapter officer spots. All were required to fill out an application and be interviewed for the seven offices and two alternate spots.
          The members of the 2009-2010 officer team are: President Elizabeth Jones, Vice President Jacob Moore, Secretary Laura Deason, Treasurer Turner Armitage, Reporter Morgan Henry, Sentinel Clint Jones. Alternates are Jacob Pilmaier and Tyler Chupp. Mitch Rolph will serve as Chapter Chaplain.
